November’s Book

The book I have chosen for November is:

The Other Queen, by Philippa Gregory

I bought this book on a thrift shop for only $3.00, can you believe that? I was so excited when I saw it standing there all rusty and yelloish, ready to be read againg. I love rusty and yelloish books, the smell of old paper. I like second hands books, like to imagine the hands they had been held before me.

But lets get back to the book. I bought it because I had read one’s of Philippa Gregory’s book in the past. The tittle of it book is: The Other Boleyn Girl. My sister bought it for me as a gift, and felt in love as soon I started reading it. I’ve been wanted to read Philippa’s other books for a while, so I’m glad I came across of it.

I think I’m going to love this book too. Not only because of the author, but also because I’m a big fan of Mary, Queen of Scots history. Can’t wait to see how it goes and tell you about it.

Description of the book (from the back cover):

“Mary, Queen of Scots, who trusted Queen Elizabeth’s promise of sanctuary when she fled from the rebels in Scotland and the found herself imprisoned as the “guest” of George Talbot, Earl of Shrewsbury and his wife, Bess of Hardwick. The newly married couple welcome the queen into their home, certain that serving as her hosts and jailers will bring them an advantage in the cutthroat world of the Elizabethan court. To their horror, they find that the task will bankrupt them, and as their home becomes the epicenter of intrigue and rebellion against Elizabeth, their loyal to each other and to their sovereign comes into question. if mary succeeds in sending the earl into her own web of treachery and treason, or if the great spymaster William Cecil links them to the growing conspiracy to free Mary from her illegal imprisonment, they will all face the headsman.”

“Philippa Gregory uses new research and her passion for historical accuracy to place a well-known heroine in a completely new tale full os suspense, passion, and political intrigue.”
